Drive That Bike

Grade: Sixth
When:  All Year Long – 45-minute class

This is the first of two classes that best prepare sixth-graders for riding independently on roads and pathways. These two-part classes expand on prior elementary school lessons with an emphasis on traffic laws and riding confidently.

A PowerPoint presentation illustrates bicycling’s history and social impact and emphasizes the benefits and responsibilities of bike commuting. An interactive component covers laws that govern cars and bikes.

Students learn how to ride confidently while being visible, predictable, and law-abiding when riding on roads and multi-use pathways. This class is a prerequisite for Bike Drills and Bike Field Trips.
