STREET SMARTS MARIN is a traffic calming program supported by the Transportation Authority of Marin (TAM) and local jurisdictions in Marin County. Its purpose is to make Marin’s streets safer and friendlier.

STREET SMARTS:

Addresses traffic problems at their source – in the minds of drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists.

Brings education to the equation by supplementing traffic safety efforts involving engineering and enforcement.

Works on many levels through outdoor advertising and the press, community events, school activities and discussions, neighborhood initiatives, corporate sponsorships and more.

Grants for Bike Racks available at Walk Bike Marin

Ninety-five (95) Safe Routes to School infrastructure projects totaling over $16 million have been constructed or are currently under design. The Safe Routes to School program assists communities in identifying access issues and solutions, applying for various grant funds, and in implementing improvements.
