A Green Ways to School Guide for Green Teams

bike, walk, carpool, bus to school

SchoolPool Marin

All Marin County parents and guardians can register at SchoolPool Marin to develop a matchlist of other families interested in forming a “SchoolPool.”  Walk, bike, drive, or take the bus together to and from school – it’s fun, and the first 500 registrants will receive a Peets Coffee and Tea Gift card!

SchoolPoolMarin also includes:

  • After-School Trip Sharing- find travel companions to sports, rehearsals, classes, after-school care, camps...any kids activities! Request a match list from any location to any destination at any time-even  on weekends and vacations!

  • Parents' Commute Option-request a carpool or bus buddy match list to your work and your child's school gets credit in the Green Ways to School Challenge. School staff can join, too!

The Green Ways to School Campaign showed tremendous success last school year.  Overall, there was a 4% increase in green trips to school and a 6% increase for the 2-year period for the schools that participated in the Green Ways to School Programs.  Even more significant was the number of schools in the program that demonstrated an even higher rate of increase than the average for all schools ranging from 5% to 13%.
